I took a little time out from packing up our house - we're at the super-messy-we'll-never-get-this-done stage - and checked the mail. Look what the postman brought today - these exquisite turned pieces are from Tom Saunders' Etsy shop
Turnings in Miniature. I love them!!
So finely turned and finished in birdseye maple, so nice to the touch.
It's made my day!
Glenda,
ReplyDeleteBoth of those pieces are really beautiful! They look very smooth too. I bet they do feel good. Birdseye maple is such a wonderful wood.
They are fabulous, he's work is just amazing! I'm waiting for my occassional table from him :)
ReplyDeleteIra - I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnhorabuena por la compra, son una maravilla!!
ReplyDeletebesitos ascension
gorgeous!! Do you have a special plan for them after your move?
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous. Like Ira, I'm waiting for my shipment from Tom, too, and seeing these just makes me more excited! Thank you for posting the photos and showing us the elevation -- the bottom detail on that plate/platter is just amazing.
ReplyDeleteKim - the flat platter will go into my lakehouse, and the bowl might be a breadbowl in my witch house. My witch doesn't 'do' black very much, she's more of a woodsy lady. I suppose that means that people won't recognize her as a witch, it'll just look like an ordinary cottage!! Definitely a wand-free area.

They are beautiful! I'm going to have to purchase some of Tom's work for my collection! He is a fellow Team MIDS member on Etsy and such a nice person.

I have recently discovered wood turnings and these are two lovely examples. I will certainly be looking at his website. Thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteI am shock that I am not already a follower of your blog ..lol. I thought I did the last time, no wonder your new posts never showed up on my dashboard ..lol.
ReplyDeleteSo many of you have bought and shown Tom's turnings that I felt like some wooden bowls myself. So while I was at mum's, I took some chopstick holders that were made from coconut, broke them up and they made them pretty good wooden plates..lol :).
